Taming

The creatures you can tame, the foods they eat, and how they breed. See also taming.

Drop one of a creature's foods near it. After eating, it stays fed for the time shown. Every 3 s it spends fed and not alerted takes 3 s off its taming time; a player within 60 m under Brew of Animal Whispers makes that ×2.

Breeding

Tamed creatures breed while fed and not alerted. At each check, a creature goes ahead with the chance shown, if fewer of its kind (adults and young together) than the limit are within range and a partner is close. It then gains a love point; with enough points it becomes pregnant and gives birth after the gestation time. The young are born tame, at their parent's level.

Any beast

With the Any Beast mastery you can tame creatures that normally can't be tamed. Animals eat the Boar's foods and take its taming times. Neck, Bear, Vile take the Wolf's taming times and eat their own foods, or the Wolf's if they have none. All of them take follow and stay commands, and none takes a saddle. Their taming only goes on while a player with the mastery has been within 25 m in the last 12 s.

Herder masteries

Masteries in the crafting tree for tamed animals:

Mastery Effect
Any Beast Allows normally untamable creatures to be tamed. They still need food and the conditions required for taming.
Herd Call Giving a follow or stay command to one tamed creature also commands nearby tamed creatures. Followers that move beyond the herd's range stop following.
Beast Portal Tamed animals that follow you go with you through portals and dungeon entrances: those within the herd call range appear next to you on the other side.
Stable Keeper Interacting with a tamed creature gives it longer feeding duration while near player-built structures. The effect remains on that creature.
Beast Bearer You can carry one small tamed animal (up to wolf size: boar, wolf, chicken, young animals) in your arms, through portals too: press [Ctrl] + [E] on it to pick it up and again to set it down. You cannot attack while carrying. An animal you can also ride with Any Saddle is picked up by holding [E] instead: a plain press rides it.
Named Herd Shows named tamed creatures on the map.
